So Mini Viva have broken up. Whilst I will admit that this is no great loss to music as a whole (the duo weren’t exactly personality+), let’s all take a moment to remember their three genuinely brilliant singles - ‘Left My Heart in Tokyo’, ‘I Wish’, and ‘One Touch’. 1. Good luck to The XX for their second album - the hype cycle’s going to be tough for a band so young.

2. In the Popjustice Twenty Quid Music Prize, HURTS’ ‘Wonderful Life’ was drawn against ‘Left My Heart in Tokyo’ - rather cruel in my opinion.

Really? Yeah, the shortlist wasn’t great this year (three Mini Viva singles?), but this was like the worst song on there. I don’t understand at all.

This is a bit depressing really. Certainly not as good or interesting as last year’s.

‘I Won’t Kneel’ is pretty great, however, and I’m still very fond of Hurts and Mini Viva. At least the Hoosiers aren’t there.
